baked donuts

cade made donuts. it's been two days and they're gone. plus, they're certified delicious by kate. they're super simple and fun to make. all you need are a few ingredients and a donut pan {which is the greatest thing ever invented by the way}.

what you need // for 9ish donuts but it really depends on the pan you have.
donuts:
5 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup milk

preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

blend butter and sugar in a large bowl. add eggs and mix well.

in a separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, and nutmeg. slowly add to butter and sugar mixture. mix in milk thoroughly.

fill greased donut pans 2/3 of the way. if you are not sure where 2/3 is fill the pan lower rather than higher, it makes more evenly sized donuts.

bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, rotating pans halfway through.

glaze:
the glaze was a mixture of icing sugar and milk. i didn't really measure how much i did so you can experiment.

after the donuts have cooled for 8-10 minutes tap them out of their pans onto a cooling rack. let them cool for 10 more minutes.

when the donuts have cooled dip the top into the glaze and put into the fridge immediately. top with sprinkles and enjoy!

summer staples

hello! lot's of exciting things have been happening including the fact that cade came back to massachusetts for the summer! which means that we are sitting side by side to write this post {well actually cade is sitting and kate is dancing around her kitchen}. since it's officially summer we decided that we'd compose a list of summer favorites. we also have some recipes and diy posts that we're gonna be sharing soon, so stay tuned.

sunscreen is one of the most important things to bring to the beach, the pool, or anywhere that you need to protect your skin from sun cancer. this particular sunscreen smells tropical, is water resistant, and you can't really notice it but it works. you can buy it here.

this bathing suit is really comfortable and great for the beach. you can shop similar styles or create your own bathing suit here

these sandals are so pretty and really comfortable. cade has really wide feet and these stretch out to fit wide feet very well. cade bought them in store so the model is different when you buy them online, but still very pretty.

if you want a light summer read the secret garden is a classic. cade found this edition which is absolutely stunning.

we believe that these shorts are a necessary staple for summer. unfortunately we couldn't find the link but they're from h&m.

this nail polish is super cute, free of the bad chemicals, and fun for summer. it also dries quickly.

ocean spray! we love this. when you're not at the beach, spray the beach in your hair! it makes your hair feel so nice and curls it just like the ocean.

we love notebooks, especially these ones. plus they're super durable {as in, you can write with sharpie in them, and you can spill cookie batter on them etc.}.

we are loving this bag that cade just purchased. the exact translation is swimming pool swimming lessons {or swimming lessons at the pool}. the straps are a lovely shade of pink and the inside is a pretty denim.

we know that this is everywhere on the internet but we thought we'd point it out anyway because it's actually a trend that you should jump on because it's great. (you can get one here).

thanks to our friend grae for being our hand model and putting up with cade's craziness when it comes to taking photos :). if you want to buy the cute nail decals that she is wearing click here.
