bye for now

hi guys. as most of you know cade is taking a break from blogging. one of the reasons that i decided to do this blog with cade is because it was a way for us to stay in contact. now that cade is taking a break i am also going to take a break. it would also not feel right for me to be doing this coast to that coast with only this coast. that is not the only reason that i am taking a break. i have not been inspired to write that much recently but if i am then i might come back.

farewell

i'm taking a break from blogging. i don't feel inspired, all i feel is frustration towards my content. i don't know if i'll come back or if i will start my own blog but i know that thiscoastothatcoast will always rest in my heart. i don't want to ramble on too much about my decision but thank you for continuing to read. i think that kate will continue posting but there will be an update soon about that decision.

cade

ps. if i start a solo project you all will be the very first to know.

kate's birthday wishlist

hello! my {kate's} birthday is coming up in a few short weeks so i decided to make a list of things that i want. some of these will be things that i want some people to buy for me or they make diys that i want because i am really bad at diys {more like i start them and never finish}. enough with my rant and here is my list!
1 // these push pins would probably end up holding everything up on my walls.

2 // i totally want to put these letters on my birthday cake {i am not completely sure if this counts as a gift but cake is a necessary part of my birthday celebration and it goes on the cake so i am counting it}.

3 // someone could always set this up for me and i would be completely happy.

4 // simple yet super cute washi tape.

5 // these pencils are so amazing!

6 // this gorgeous necklace .

7 // i have a minor {ok major} obsession with sugar and watercolors so i really want these

8 // these notebooks are super awesome.

news years resolutions in september

i've decided to write my new years resolutions in september. don't ask why, i just am.
Kate Moss backstage at Matthew Williamson London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2000, September 22, 1999. (Sinead Lynch/AFP)

wear more black. i decided recently that i do not have nearly enough black in my wardroe and that i have way to much white.

take more care of my nails. i tend to leave polish on until my next nail appointment and by then my nails are chipped and gross.

actually blog. i struggle with everythinghastobeperfectness so when i don't blog it's not because i don't want to, but because i'v probably spent hours going over my photos, editing them, and then deciding they look awful.

do my laundry. i just reorganized my whole closet and i would like to keep it organized. (and not have dirty clothes on the floor).

be more happy. i'm a pretty happy person in general but a person can never be too happy.

send more cards. i want to connect with people not just using technology but with handwritten notes.

go to more museums. i should really experience more art. i mean, it's not like i live with a painter.

work on my french. i want my grandmother's side of the family to actually be able to talk to me.

ps. do you like this font i'm trying out? or do you like the old one better?

so has kate by any chance mentioned the fact that she has a teeny, tiny, little harry potter obsession. kate, get real. okay fine kate is completely obsessed with harry potter and now wants these pencils. :)

summer is not over yet! still time to use this. {anyone else here thinking back to cade's obsession with watermelons?}

so what if we already put this brand in. this is too amazing.

we just remembered this and it describes kate's life so perfectly.

dear cade,
i would like to thank you for all of the fun times that we have made this summer. from the times that we were sitting blogging or you were watching me sing {sorry my singing was so off-key:)}. also the time we were listening to a one-hour loop of photograph and the time we baked a chocolate cake {it did taste good}. i hope that you have luck in all of your things that you are planning and just remember however hard it gets, it can never be harder than an one-thousand piece puzzle.

p.s. the picture is of our studio in cade's house, that we are also saying goodbye to.

something short

we're taking a break from blogging. i know you're probably like: "but they just took a week off..." that is true, but i (cade) am moving out of my house and back to san francisco in two weeks and it's just not the right time for me to be blogging. kate and i decided that we'd spend the spare time that i do have to blog, creating posts for the future so we have things to post even when we're not together. in addition to all of this we have a couple changes to the blog. #1: we'll be writing posts separately, however we'll be writing our weekly favorites together. #2: we updated our about page

we're sorry for this inconvenience and we'll be back to putting up posts regularly (3-4 times a week) once i go back to san francisco. see you soon!

ps. we will continue to use our pinterest and instagram to update you!

ban.do agenda

so i just got a ban.do agenda and i'm loving it so much. it seriously makes me want to right down everything i'm doing {and i kinda have been, with this pen {and you can get all the colors here}}. i'm not going to write a super long post about it but i think i'll say a few things. first of all, it is so cute. i have the small floral one and i love the color scheme. the illustrations are also super adorable and fun. second, it comes with stickers. seriously, stickers are the best. three, there's a list of wacky holidays that we will definitely be celebrating. i also really like how there's enough space to put all my schoolwork, activities and blogposts. yay organizing. ooooh, there's also a pocket that will be very handy. the only thing i didn't like about my agenda is that there was a sticker on the back that i tried to peel away and it didn't totally come off {i had to spend like ten minutes peeling it off}. so, the lovely people at ban.do, if your reading this, please please don't put a sticker on next years agenda.

long beach island

hi guys! i have been offline for a while because i was in long beach island and i didn't have wifi. i have some great places to visit and things to do if you ever get around to going {which you definitely should, i loved it}.

probably the most amazing part of my trip was getting up at 5:20 to see the sunrise. i was about a block from the beach so i just ran to the beach with my sister. this is something so beautiful that it makes up for the fact that you have to get up so early {i then went back to sleep}.

a few shops that are super cute are island gypsy, how to live, and song of the sea. island gypsy has super cute clothes. how to live has some clothes but also has a bunch of little signs and trinkets. song of the sea is just full of great signs and things for your home.

fantasy island is an amusement park that is somewhat small but has just enough rides and games to make it worth visiting. plus, it's not overwhelming.

chicken or the egg is a restaurant that is very delicious and you have no excuse not to go because it is open 24 hours a day {in the summer}. i had great apple cobbler french toast.

the beach is another amazing part of long beach island. they have magnificent waves that when you are knee deep can go over your head. the only major downside to the beach is that the swimming area is kept pretty small and the lifeguards sometimes put restrictions on how deep you can go {i could go knee deep, waist deep, and over your head}.

clover food lab

happy monday everyone! kate's away so i've been left to handle everything and i'm kinda failing at it... oops. however, i did create an instagram for us, so come say hi! we'll have behind the scenes and additional pictures from outings and blogposts.

=

i went out to lunch at the clover food lab with a friend and we had a really fun time. we split the tomato and cheese sandwich, and the chickpea fritter sandwich. we really liked the tomato one and the chickpea one was okay {there were a lot of ingredients, that didn't totally mix well}. we also had the beet soda and it was sooooooo good. it sounds odd, but vegetable soda is really, really delicious! the coolest part about the restaurant though was that you can draw a picture and hang it on the wall. if you see the one about "a cliche a day" or the picture saying "smile. it looks nice on you." let us know {or instagram it with #kateandcade}. you should really check this place out, you'll enjoy it {i promise}.

patriotic nails

happy {almost} 4th of july! if you're looking for a fun way to spruce up your nails this is fun and easy {and festive!}

what you need:
red nail polish // we used nyc: big apple red
blue nail polish // we used nyc: blue rush v
white nail polish // we used butter: cotton buds
top coat // we used mineral fusion
tape

instructions:
paint your nails with the white nail polish {don't paint your ring finger on either hand}. let dry. we recommend letting your nails dry overnight but if you're in a time crunch just make sure they are completely dry before moving on to the next step. paint your ring fingers blue, and add a second coat if necessary. cut up strips of tape and apply them to your white nails. paint over the tape in red. when all of the nail polish is dry peal off the tape. add a top coat and go celebrate!
